Bangkok Week 713

After being at home with Mum and Dad all week, Arlo had a fun-filled weekend: a trip to the farm, and an exciting day at Dreamworld, filled with firsts!

Uh oh! We're supposed to be getting Arlo dressed. But we've lost him among his friends!

Dad, where did Arlo go?

And enjoying a giant afternoon ice cream. Arlo can down a whole one by himself.

On Sunday, we decided to change it up... and go to Dreamworld!

We hadn't been here in over 13 years! It's... seen better days.

First ride of the day: an easy "warm up" on a roller coaster!

Unclear if he enjoyed it. But he walked off in one piece.

Getting a hug from some distant cousins of the Easter Island statues.

Surrounded by all his favorite fruits and veggies!

Here's one of the highlights of the visit: the antique cars!

Arlo took driving them very seriously.

Unfortunately, these cars predate power steering. Some strong intervention was needed.

Driving these cars is a team effort!

Uh oh! Break! (The car in front of us stopped for photos.)

Next up: the race cars that Arlo had been talking about during the entire ride.

Too bad they went a little too fast for his taste.

"Arlo's finished!" he pleaded after one go-around.

Ah, this one is more Arlo's speed!

Finally figured out the paddle should go in the water!

And the monorail.

This one's a classic. Surprised it's still running.

And enjoying a well-deserved ice cream break.

Let's be clear: this is a full-fledged adult ride!

It was spinning pretty darn fast. Nevertheless, Arlo rode it twice!

There was a petting zoo, with a bird house filled with extremely tame birds.

They weren't afraid of people at all, which was exciting for Arlo.

Arlo ended up feeding this bird seeds straight from his hand.

Riding a real life tractor: another highlight of the day!

Taking it very seriously.

Hmm. Pigs are very grotesque in real life.

Can this one even get up?

These bunnies are nice and soft.

Continuing the calm theme: a ride on the choo choo train.

And then the cable cars!

Arlo was able to identify a lot of the attractions we'd just seen from the ground.

And last stop: an hour in the water park.

Voluntarily taking a shower.

And sliding down, right into the giant pool.

Still looking pretty dry...

Oh wait, I spoke too soon.

Whee! Down a fast spiral slide.

Not quite swimming depth... but trying anyway.

Heading up, to try some more slides.

Splash down.

And again!

Hey, this is fun!

Let's go again!

And trying the yellow slides again.

The big picture: the water park exceeded my expectation! It's the perfect size and "scope" for Arlo.

Yes!

So much for staying dry! Too bad Dad didn't bring a change of clothes...

Hey, this pool is actually swimming depth.

Can we stay and play in here, Dad?

And we left the water park, just in time to see the parade.

Have to give them credit for trying to keep the spirit up and pull out all the stops, despite how few guests they had.

Double umbrellas on the way home from school: summer is here!
